History of UK Lotto
The National Lottery, which is what the UK Lotto was originally called, was introduced on Saturday 19th November 1994. The primary objective being to raise money for good causes, which has been a success by distributing over £33 billion to charitable organisations since its launch.
The record for the most winners in one draw was reached on Saturday 14th January 1995 when 133 players split the jackpot of £16,293,830 – taking home £122,510 each!
In 2002, The National Lottery was rebranded to UK Lotto.
