About Oz Powerball

The Australian Powerball is very much based on the American version of the game but it does come with some major differences. In the American Powerball, you can win from matching only 1 Powerball number whereas in the Australian Powerball, you have to match at least 3 numbers (1 of which is the Powerball). In 2009, the highest ever Australian Powerball jackpot was won, for a whopping A$80 million.
Draws take place live on television at approx. 9.30pm every Thursday night.

History of Oz Powerball

History of Oz Powerball

After the success of Oz Lotto, the Australian Lotto Bloc organisation launched their second national game, Powerball. Based on the American version on the game, but with clear differences, Oz Powerball has become another power lottery taking Australia by storm!

There were some changes made in March 2013 when the number of balls drawn was increased to 6 main numbers plus a Powerball, giving more players a chance to win the lower prize tiers (by matching only 2 main numbers and a Powerball number).
